Experience/Background:

As the owner of Slagel Insulation, I have been involved with the family business since childhood and began spraying foam when I was just 12 years old. After high school, I worked as an auto and truck mechanic, which strengthened my skills in customer service, equipment maintenance, and problem-solving. That experience continues to help me handle the many challenges that come with running the business and serving our customers.

Why I Love Working at Slagel Insulation:

I enjoy helping customers solve problems and appreciate that every day brings something different. I like meeting new customers, visiting different places, building lasting relationships, and spending time with the people I work alongside. The job also provides plenty of opportunities for an occasional soft-serve ice cream stop!

Hobbies and Interests:

I enjoy fine woodworking and building furniture. I appreciate the creativity, patience, and attention to detail involved in turning raw materials into something useful and lasting.

Family/Life Details:

I am the second oldest of five children. I am married to Jodi, and we have four children: Haley and her husband, Patrick; Janelle and her husband, Caden; Brittney; and Rustin. We live in the country in a remodeled 100-year-old farmhouse. I also have a well-known love for soft-serve ice cream!

Experience/Background:

As Human Resources and Marketing Manager, I draw on my years of teaching to bring strong communication and organizational skills to our team. I enjoy creating—whether that’s new marketing ideas or ways to support our employees. Married to Kevin, the owner, I’m passionate about supporting and growing our family business and proud to carry forward the legacy of Slagel Insulation.

Why I Love Working at Slagel Insulation:

I love being part of a company where family values and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do. Every day is different, and I enjoy finding creative ways to connect with our customers and support our employees. Being able to work alongside Kevin and our amazing team while helping grow the business makes it especially meaningful to me.

Hobbies and Interests:

I enjoy quilting and sewing, which let me express my creativity in fun, hands-on ways. I also love getting lost in a good book and spending quality time with my family—these moments keep me inspired and energized for both work and life.

Family/Life Details:

I’m the middle child of three and have been happily married to Kevin for 27 years. We have four wonderful children, and our two oldest are married, which makes family life full of love, laughter, and plenty of memories.

Duties:

I am the number-one parts and errand runner, “Mr. Fix-It,” forklift operator, and whatever else is needed! As a jack-of-all-trades, I help keep things running smoothly and am always ready to tackle the next job.

Experience/Background:

Before starting Slagel Insulation, I worked at Koehl Bros. for seven years. I also grew up working on a farm, where I learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and finding practical solutions to problems.

There is always something to do! I enjoy staying busy, helping wherever I am needed, and being part of the family business.

Hobbies and Interests:

I enjoy restoring antique Case tractors and putting them back to work. I use my tractors to plow for local farmers and participate in area plow days. I also enjoy attending tractor shows and demonstrations featuring antique equipment.

Family/Life Details:

I have been married to my wife, Lucy, for 60 years. We have five children—Anita, Kevin, Ryan, Erika, and Kristin—and 15 grandchildren. I also come from a large family of 14 children, with seven boys and seven girls.

Duties:

I help with light bookkeeping duties and assist with keeping the financial records organized.

Experience/Background:

As the oldest girl in a family with 17 children—including 12 brothers—I learned the meaning of hard work at an early age. I worked, worked, and then worked some more! Before having children, I also worked at Dave’s Supermarket, where I gained valuable experience working with people and handling daily responsibilities.

Hobbies and Interests:

I enjoy flower gardening, cooking, and baking. I love spending time tending to my flowers and preparing homemade food and treats for others to enjoy.

Family/Life Details:

I have been married to my husband, Jim, for 60 years. We have five children—Anita, Kevin, Ryan, Erika, and Kristin—and 15 grandchildren.

Duties:

I handle accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities for Slagel Insulation, along with sales for the monument business. I help keep financial records accurate and organized while also assisting customers throughout the sales process.

Experience/Background:

I have an associate degree in accounting and more than 14 years of experience in the banking industry. My time in banking gave me a strong financial background and valuable customer-service experience, both of which continue to help me in my role today.

I enjoy the family-oriented atmosphere and working alongside a team of hardworking people. Over the years, I have also had the opportunity to meet and talk with many wonderful customers and community members.

Hobbies and Interests:

I enjoy scrapbooking as well as flower and vegetable gardening. These hobbies allow me to be creative, spend time outdoors, and enjoy watching things grow.

Family/Life Details:

I am married to Mark, and we have two children, Ty and Nora. I am the second youngest of five children and survived being picked on by my two older brothers—one of whom is now my boss!

Duties:

As the Bidding and Project Estimator, I meet with customers, visit job sites, evaluate their insulation needs, take measurements, and prepare project options with accurate pricing. I help each customer choose the best insulation solution for their building, comfort, and budget.

Experience/Background:

My experience working with both customers and vendors has helped me develop strong communication and people skills. I enjoy building relationships and making customers feel comfortable throughout the estimating process. My scheduling and time-management skills also help me stay organized and keep projects moving forward.

Why I Love Working at Slagel Insulation:

I enjoy the family atmosphere and the variety of projects I get to be part of. I like meeting new people and seeing different homes, buildings, and job sites. Most of all, I appreciate being part of a team where everyone works together and supports one another.

Hobbies and Interests:

I enjoy stock car racing, following a variety of sports, and working at the family farm. Spending time on the farm allows me to stay active, work with my hands, and remain connected to my family.

Family/Life Details:

I have been married to my wife, Carol, since 1994. We have two children, Morgan and Macy, and I enjoy spending time with my family.

As a Spray Foam Technician, I prepare job sites, operate spray foam equipment, and apply insulation safely and accurately. I ensure proper coverage and thickness, help maintain the equipment, and leave each job site clean and organized.

Experience/Background:

Since joining Slagel Insulation, I have gained valuable experience in the insulation industry. I have learned about the importance of proper insulation and spray foam, along with the skills and techniques needed to complete each job safely and effectively.

Why I Love Working at Slagel Insulation:

I enjoy meeting so many kind people at the different job sites we visit. I also appreciate working with a great team and having employers who are patient with their employees and take the time to teach us the best way to do each job.

Hobbies and Interests:

I enjoy spending time with my family and helping my children achieve their academic goals. I also like working on repairs and improvement projects around my house.

Family/Life Details:

I am married to my wonderful wife, Antonia, and we have four children: three boys—Andres, Alan, and Leo—and one daughter, Mariana. My family means everything to me, and I am very proud of them.

I have worked at Slagel Insulation since 2015. This was my first full-time job after graduating from high school, and over the years, I have gained valuable hands-on experience and developed a wide range of skills.

I have learned so much during my time here and discovered that the job involves much more than simply spraying foam. I appreciate the positive work environment and the understanding and support I receive. Over the years, the people I work with have become like family to me.

Hobbies and Interests:

I love spending time with my family, fishing, and participating in shooting sports. I also enjoy working on my Wheel Horse garden tractors and my antique 1953 Ferguson TO-30 tractor.

Family/Life Details:

I am married to my wife, Shelby, and we have three beautiful little girls. Spending time together as a family is very important to me.

Duties:

As a part-time Spray Foam Technician, I help prepare job sites, and operate/maintain equipment. I also help keep our equipment and work areas clean and organized.

Experience/Background:

I enjoy working on anything mechanical, which helps me understand and work with the equipment we use on the job. I like learning how things operate and using my hands to solve problems.

Why I Love Working at Slagel Insulation:

I enjoy working alongside my family and the other great people on our team, including Michael, Maylo, Zack, and Eric. I also appreciate the challenges that come with the work and the opportunity to learn new skills.

Hobbies and Interests:

I enjoy antique tractors, fishing, woodworking, and working on anything mechanical. I like hands-on projects that allow me to build, repair, and learn how things work.

Family/Life Details:

I am a junior in high school and live with my mom, dad, and younger sister, Nora. I enjoy spending time with my family while balancing school, work, and my hobbies.

As a Spray Foam Technician, I prepare job sites, operate spray foam equipment, and apply insulation safely and accurately. I ensure proper coverage and thickness, help maintain the equipment, and leave each job site clean and organized.

Experience/Background:

My previous experience comes from the shop classes I took in both high school and college. These classes helped me develop practical, hands-on skills that are useful when working with tools, equipment, and materials on the job.

Why I Love Working at Slagel Insulation:

I enjoy working at Slagel Insulation because it is a small, close-knit team where my ideas and contributions on the job site are heard and recognized. I appreciate knowing that the work I do has a meaningful impact.

Hobbies and Interests:

I enjoy researching old architecture and learning why certain rooms and buildings were designed the way they were and what purposes they served at the time. I also enjoy hunting and playing video games, especially first-person shooters and open-world role-playing games.

Family/Life Details:

I live in Bloomington with my loving parents and am one of five children. I have four siblings, and two of us are currently attending college.

Diesel joined the Slagel Insulation team in August 2024 and quickly earned the title of "most loved team member." Always eager to ride along and check out the jobsites, he keeps spirits high and never misses a chance to learn something new. With his Slagel bandana and wagging tail, Diesel makes every workday a little brighter.
